The Teatro Ideal Cinema, built in 1925, is a cultural landmark of Calahorra. With a seating capacity original 804 seats, was a landmark in its time, and hosted performances by outstanding as of the Company of Margarita Xirgu and the play “Las Leandras” starring Celia Gámez. In 1930, he was one of the first rooms in projected sound films, showing classics like “Gilda” and “Welcome Mr. Marshall”.

During its history, the theatre has adapted its use, becoming the Disco Harlequin in the 1970s and later in a leisure centre. In 2006, it was restored thanks to funds from the City of Calahorra and The Government of la Rioja, recovering its original function as an arena of cultural. Today, the Teatro Ideal Cinema remains a point of interest for tourists and residents alike, offering a rich cultural programming in Calahorra.
