The Gastronomic Days of the Greens was held in Calahorra since 1996, with the goal of bringing value to the wealth of the garden calagurritana, highlighting both the quality of the product is fresh as well as the processes of conservation and development that makes it a gastronomic reference. Each year, at the end of April, the city transforms into the epicenter of the vegetable with a full and varied programme of activities aimed at all audiences. During a week, Calahorra pays homage to its horticultural products, with lectures, talks, tastings, exhibitions, live cooking, wine tastings and other proposals that revolve around an undisputed protagonist: the vegetable.
The week begins with an opening ceremony at the Teatro Ideal , and culminates with the traditional Market of Vegetables, located at… (see location in the program in 2026), where you can buy fresh produce and packaged directly from the local producers. Since 2015, the event will feature the recognition of Festival of Regional Tourist Interest what has given you an even greater boost to their prestige and power projection.
The involvement of the local hotel is key in these workshops: bars and restaurants offer a wide path of skewers and a varied selection of special menus prepared with fresh vegetables. Even the Hospital Calahorra adds to the celebration, including proposals with vegetables on their menus for patients and companions.
One of the most unique and expected is the Gateway of the Vegetable, a fashion show that is held on the Friday of that week. This quote brings together renowned designers and industry professionals, show creations made with vegetables: gowns, headpieces and add-ons converted in authentic pieces of art which, after the parade, are exhibited in the Museum of the Vegetable.
Organized by the City of Calahorra, these Days reflect the collective commitment of the entire city. Farmers, restaurateurs, conserveros, winemakers, merchants, schools, groups and various local groups are involved each year to give life to a celebration that goes far beyond gastronomy: it is a sample of the roots, pride, and quality of the products of the garden calagurritana.

The weekend of the Gastronomic Days of the Vegetable the Market is held Vegetable, an iconic space located under a large marquee on… (see location in the program of 2026). In this market, neighbors, and visitors have the opportunity to taste and buy seasonal products directly from the garden calagurritana, as well as preserves, wines and oils made by local companies.

One of the traditions most awaited takes place on the Sunday morning, when the rocks of Calahorra prepared dishes with vegetables that attract a large number of people to the venue. The funds raised through the sale of these preparations are intended for the purpose of solidarity, adding a social component to the festive spirit and gastronomic event.
The interior of the market is also amazing with a vertical garden very striking, that puts the accent on the natural beauty of the local product, and with a stand of the Tourist Office that provides current information on both the program of the Conference and about the main cultural attractions and heritage of the municipality.
Gateway City Greens
The Gateway “Town of Vegetables” was born in 2012 with a proposal as original as it is surprising: using vegetables as the main material for the production of haute couture and the development of add-ons. Since then, it has become one of the most eye-catching and media of the Gastronomic Days of the Vegetable, attracting each year representatives of the world of fashion, and culture. The appointment has been attended by figures as prominent as Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, Sandra Blow, Carmen Lomana, Lorenzo Caprile or Carlos García-Calvo, who have served as sponsors of the event in different editions.
The designs that are presented parade inspired by big names of the seam international as Valentino, Oscar de la Renta and Christian Dior, and often involve the participation of young talents trained in schools of prestige as the Superior School of Design of The Rioja or Creanavarra, in Pamplona. In 2019, the creative direction of the parade was led by Cristina García Sigüenza, providing a fresh and professional on the set of creations.
The Contest Gateway “Town of Vegetables” , is an open call to designers, both students and professionals, as well as young people looking to make their way in the world of fashion. This competition has established itself as a platform of visibility for those who want to show their creativity is linked to innovation and the sustainable stock.
In recent years, the gateway has been enriched with the addition of headgear made by the Education Center, FP Sheet, or by the young designer Zara Martinez. Also have been uploaded to the scenario pieces of unique jewelry created by artisans as Jesus Angel Dominguez Ruiz Dominguez Jewelers, and Stephen Joy, Comedy, proving that inspiration can sprout also of the earth and become art.
